Thank you from the Elmvale & District Food Bank

Brethren,

The following was received from Debra - of the Elmvale & District Food Bank.

Well Christmas 2023 is now in the books.   The Elmvale & District Food Bank prepared 90 Christmas Hampers this year of which 55 included children.   The volunteers worked hours (and hours) on getting everything ready for pickup/delivery on December 22nd.

Thanks to each and every sponsor, gifts for the children are taken care of.    You have no idea how much we appreciate the support of the community and our sponsors.

We sometimes question why we do it.  I am quoting a thank you received on December 23rd from one of our families:

“I just wanted to message and give the Food Bank, and all its volunteers and donator’s a huge thank you.  I’m sure people think “this will help someone out” and “this will make a little one’s Christmas” when donating but I don’t think anyone really knows the impact it has on those on the receiving end.  I was overwhelmed yesterday, with gratitude.  I cried for quite a while.  For my family and countless others, this really does make a huge difference and we appreciate more than some truly knows.  So thank you!”

Although this is just one acknowledgement – it answers the question of why we do it!

I hope each and every one of you had a great Christmas.    Once again – THANK YOU!

Deb

Message From the East

Brethren,

Congratulations to Bro. Tim on his excellent work on proving himself and being passed to the Second Degree. Also, congratulations to all the brethren that took part in the degree. The ritual work was excellent, and I’m sure left a lasting impression on Bro. Tim.

I also wish to welcome our two newest members W. Bro. Vince and Bro. Grant who have affiliated with our Lodge.

This month is a special evening that doesn’t happen often. Our District Deputy Grand Master R.W. Bro. Frederick has asked Coronation Lodge to present a 50 year a Mason pin from the Grand Lodge of Texas to Bro. Dennis . Bro. Dennis, age 81, is a resident of Penetanguishene and is a life member of Matador Lodge No. 824 in Matador Texas. We are happy to celebrate this once in a lifetime achievement with him on behalf of his Lodge and Grand Lodge of Texas.

In addition, V.W. Bro. David will be doing a masonic education piece on the relationship of the nine working tools.

I would like to invite all of you out this month to join us in this celebration.

.

Georgian District's Hiram Memorial Golf Tournament

Georgian North District's D.D.G.M. R.W. Bro. Fred and Bro. John welcomed six teams to the initial Georgian District's Hiram Memorial Golf Tournament, held yesterday at Bear Creek Golf Club.

A District golf tournament has not been held for 4 years due to the pandemic and was restarted due to the hard work and dedication of Bro. John.  The tournament was held in the memory of V.W. Bro. Charles of Manitou Lodge No. 90 in Collingwood, who had organized the tournament for several years prior to COVID and his passing to the Grand Lodge Above.  The proceeds from the tournament went to the D.D.G.M.'s District Project #2447 - Youth Outreach.

The Coronation Lodge team of W. Bro. Craig , Bro. John , Bro. Peter and myself won the tourney with a score of -4.  In addition Bro. Peter won the longest drive contest with a drive of 363 yards.

Plans are in the works for next year's tourney.  Big shoutout to Bro. John for all of his hard work in putting the day together.

Bayport 249 Campaign for Georgian Bay General Hospital MRI

Dear Brother

Bayport Lodge 249 has launched a fund-raising campaign to support our community by pledging $50.000.00 in matching funds towards a MRI for Georgian Bay General Hospital.  This is a win win project, demonstrating Freemasons support for their community and reducing overall wait times for the whole of Simcoe County. We hope to be supported in this endeavour by the Masons of the Georgian Districts. To which end, we respectfully request you to share this Form with the Brethren of your Lodge.

Thank you for your assistance.

Sincerely and fraternally,

The Brethren of Bayport Lodge

Message From the East

First and foremost, I would like to thank you all for having the faith to elect and install me as the Master of Coronation Lodge.  I am humbled by the honour of sitting in the East in such a worthy and warranted lodge.  I hope to maintain the quality of work and fellowship I’ve come to expect from our lodge.  I truly believe that we have one of the best lodges in the district.

I would like to thank my father, R.W. Bro. Jim and all the brethren that participated in installing me in the East.  My father and grandfather, R.W. Bro. Joe , are the reason that I joined Masonry and I hope to continue their legacy this year.  I would also like to give a special thank you to V.W. Bro. Dave and V.W. Bro. Bill for their support in getting me prepared this winter.

Brethren, we have a busy year ahead of us starting off with a first degree at our June meeting.  I’m also pleased to announce that our lodge is finally getting back to normal with the return of our Georgian Wardens’ Degree night in July and the Grand Lodge Officer’s night in August.  I’m so happy these traditions are finally restarting post-COVID.

I would also like to see more of our brothers have the opportunity to do a piece of work during our meetings.  If you would like to participate more, please let me know.

Coronation Lodge Gets New Railing and BBQ

Our Coronation Lodge Brothers tried some different "Working Tools" as they built a new railing for the front entrance to the building, re-stained the rear steps, and built a new barbeque (for our Lodge's summer BBQ's).

Thanks to Dale , Paul , Dave , Peter , Bill , John , Dave , and Jim all for their hard work.  A special thank you to John (the projects "Chief Architect") and Mike for their construction expertise and tools.

The new BBQ will be put to good use at the Master's BBQ on June 4th.  Come on out on that Sunday and see the new front of the building and the work that was done around the Lodge.  The BBQ starts with a social at 3:30 pm with food being served at 4:30pm.   Bring your family and friends and don't forget your lawn chairs.

Brethren,

This year has been one of the most fulfilling years of my life.  The support and positivity I received from all of the Brethren, from both Coronation Lodge and others around the District, has meant the world to me.  I cannot thank you enough.

Special thanks must be extended to our Secretary V.W. Bro. David, because as each Master quickly learns “No Lodge can be successful without a dedicated Secretary.”  The many additional hours he performs, often behind the scenes have ensured that your Lodge remains one of the finest in our District.

At this month’s meeting we will be installing Bro. Aaron as the new Master of Coronation Lodge, as well as investing the other fine officers moving up in the Lodge.

Unfortunately, we are not able to host a banquet prior to Lodge this year, but there will be an informal reception in the downstairs banquet room at the conclusion of the meeting and all are invited to join us there.

I invite all brethren to come out and enjoy this amazing evening and support our brothers taking their chairs for the ensuing Masonic year.

Greetings Brethren,

What a great turn out we had for our first meeting back after our winter break. The spaghetti dinner before the lodge opened was delicious and the perfect way to kick off an excellent night. I would like to note that the spaghetti dinner raised $165 for the District Project.

Congratulations are extended to Bro. Todd on being raised to the 3rd degree. Thank you to all the officers and brethren who participated in the degree and those who came out in support of such a special evening for Bro Todd.

Our next meeting will be held April 26 th , 2023, and I invite all brethren who are able to attend. The Chair of the Finance Committee will present the Lodge’s annual budget for approval, and we will be conducting the election for the officers for the upcoming masonic year. In addition, V.W. Bro. David will be making a Masonic Education presentation. So please come out to support your lodge and officers moving forward for the future.

There will be a meeting of General-Purpose Monday April 24th @ 7:30pm. We have a strong and vibrant lodge, and I am forever thankful to be part of it.

Greetings Brethren,

I would like to start by congratulating Bro. Dennis and V.W. Bro. Gary on their 25 years a Mason pin.  I would also like to congratulate R.W. Bro. Bob on being presented his 50-year Mason pin.  These brethren are a true representation of Masonry, and I was honoured to be the one to present their pins and certificates to them.

It was also a great and informative evening with some Masonic Education by R.W. Bro. Dale .  I appreciate the time and effort it took to put something like that together and always enjoy his knowledge and outlook on the world of Masonry.  Thanks so much for making the trip to Coronation Lodge.

But what is an evening of 25- and 50-year milestones with some enlightening education without it being started with a fabulous spaghetti supper by V.W. Bro. David , and V.W. Bro. Bill .  We appreciate everything you did to organize and put together the delicious meal.  The proceeds from the supper raised $300 for the District Project.

This December’s meeting, we will be conducting a second degree for Bro. Ryan of Huronia Lodge No. 348.  This will be our last meeting before our winter break, so I encourage all who can to come out and support Bro. Ryan on his advancement in Masonry.  I am sure it will be a great night of fellowship as well.  I look forward to seeing you all there.

I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday. I would like to personally thank V.W. Bro. Bill and his wife Shar, as well as Bro. John and V.W. Bro. Bill for taking care of setting up and taking down the booth for the Fall Fair, as well as being there to connect with the community.

I also want to thank V.W. Bro. Bill, V.W. Bro. Dave, Bro. Tim , Bro. Dave, and Bro. Paul who assisted the Fall Fair Committee with the setting up of the inside concession booths at the arena for fair.

Last month we had a great turnout for Bro. Todd 2 nd Degree. I know he worked very hard to get there and his work showed through. The officers also did an amazing job which made the whole evening seamless and enjoyable to watch. Thank you to all the brethren who came out to support as well.

This October we will be doing a third Degree for Bro. John . It will also be our Official Visit from the D.D.G.M., R.W. Bro. Gordon and our traditional “Pie Night.” I know for myself I feel like it’s as good as Christmas when pie night comes around. I would like to invite all the brethren out for what I am sure will be a great night of degree work, exceptional pie, and great fellowship.

I would like to kindly ask the Coronation members attending if they could bring a pie to ensure there is enough pie for all the visiting Brethren and ourselves.

I look forward to seeing you all there.

Grand Lodge COVID-19 Update May 29 2020

Brethren,

Unfortunately Grand Lodge in July is cancelled along with all meetings until at least August 31st, 2020.

The cancellation of meetings means that we will not be holding our Lodge’s annual events of the Master’s BBQ, our July meeting which would have been the Warden’s Association degree night and BBQ and the August meeting that would have been the Present and Past Grand Lodge Officers Degree night and BBQ (that was to be attended by the Deputy Grand Master).  These summer BBQ’s usually raised a significant amount of money which this year was to go to the Elmvale & District Food Bank Building Fund.  The Lodge is still committed to donating money towards the food bank building fund, having raised some funds with events from last fall and winter.

If any member would like to make a contribution towards the Lodge’s donation to the food bank’s building fund please contact me or it may be made directly to the:

Elmvale & District Food Bank Building Fund

Knox Building

35 Queen Street West Unit-B

Elmvale ON L0L 1P0

The Food Bank is a registered charity and provides tax receipts.

Also if any member knows of Brother that is ill or in circumstances of distress can you please let me know.

All Events Postponed

Brethren, Due to the rapidly evolving Public Health advice concerning the novel coronavirus (now named COVID-19) it has been decided to cancel all Masonic events for an indefinite period. This includes lodge meetings, memorial services and social events. Those lodges who have requested dispensations to cancel or postpone in the past two days, will be covered by this blanket dispensation. We will continue to monitor the situation and will inform you when it is safe to re-open. Depending on the length of time this situation lasts, there will be several other administrative adjustments which we will have to make. We will inform you of these in good time. Please remember your vulnerable brethren and check in on them by phone or e-mail regularly. Continue to follow the advice of the health authorities and be safe. David J. Grand Master
