Greetings Brethren,

As I sat to write this month’s message from the East, I was struggling to find the right words to describe our August meeting, and three words finally came to mind, Amazing, Spectacular and Memorable. We had an amazing turnout of over 50 brethren for our annual BBQ before lodge, as well as attendance at our meeting. We enjoyed perfect weather and an amazing meal. I want to thank those brethren who worked so hard to make it such a great meal. We held 3 BBQs this year and were able to raise $999.00 for the District project. Thank you to all who contributed to this project.

It is a proud moment for Coronation Lodge and shows what masonry is all about. At the BBQ, we had a presentation from the Canadian Mental Health Association, which is this year’s District project. All District projects are equally important, but as a First Responder, this year’s project holds a special place for me for various reasons, and I would like to thank R.W. Bro. Robert, our DDGM, for supporting this very important cause. Mental health illness is a terrible illness, and it may have touched your lives in some form, or unfortunately may in the future. Therefore, I encourage the brethren to support this very worthy cause.

The evening was a Spectacular one, as we were privileged to have the MW Bro. Arthur M. Di Cecco, Grand Master of Canada in the Province of Ontario, GND D.D.G.M. R.W. Bro. Robert, along with many Present and Past G.L. Officers in attendance, as well as many visiting brethren from other lodges and Districts. Visiting other lodges is very important and shows our support to our brethren.

The travelling gavel will be starting up very soon, and I would really to repeat our great success of years past in winning it a record number of times. So I encourage the brethren to come out to the Official Visits.

The work of the evening was the raising of Bro. Chris Messecar to the sublime degree of a Master Mason, and I would like to thank the G.L. Officers for performing the work of the evening, which was spectacularly conducted. This has become an annual event for Coronation Lodge that was started by the late R.W. Dave Sneddon years ago, and I hope that this tradition will continue annually. I want to congratulate our newest Master Mason, Bro. Chris it was evident that he put in a lot of hard work with the assistance of his mentors in preparing him to be raised. This was a memorable evening for both Bro. Chris and W Bro. John , not only because the Grand Master and the DDGM and GL Officers were in attendance, but Bro. Chris is W Bro. John’s son-in-law.

I have to say it was a memorable night for our lodge as well as me. Having our esteemed guests present and finding myself sitting beside the Grand Master MW Bro. Arthur M. Di Cecco, and GND DDGM RW Bro. Robert and in the presence of so many GL Officers was a very humbling and memorable moment in my Masonic journey. I look back on the evening I became an Entered Apprentice and never thought for one second that a few years later I would find myself sitting beside these esteemed Brethren. I could not have achieved this if it weren’t for the assistance and mentoring of the brethren of Coronation Lodge. This is a true example of Masonic Brotherhood and how we support and encourage each other and why we have become masons. I am very proud of the brethren and their mentoring of all members and to be part of Coronation Lodge.

This month we will be welcoming a new brother into our lodge. We will be conducting a First Degree for Mr. Yakubu, and I encourage the brethren to come out to support our newest candidate and show him how great it is to be a Freemason and a member of Coronation Lodge.

Coronation Lodge No.466

On Wednesday night Coronation Lodge No.466 had it's annual GL Lodge Officers Night. We were treated to a fantastic BBQ in Heritage Park at 530pm with a presentation from the CMHA this year's District Project. The Grand Master was in attendance our DDGM and DDGM'S from other Districts along with many other Present and Past GL Officers.

The degree team expertly raised Bro Christopher to a Master Mason.

Thank you to everyone who came out and made it a super evening.

Greetings Brethren, 

On behalf of the brethren of Coronation Lodge, I would like  to begin this month’s message from the East by congratulating R.W.  Bro. Robert on becoming our newest District Deputy  Grand Master. I would also like to thank him for choosing Coronation  Lodge last month as the lodge for his first fraternal visit. It was a  privilege and honour to have GND’s newest DDGM in attendance to  partake in the work of the evening. 

I would also like to congratulate Coronation’s V.W. Bro.  Dave on his appointment as a Grand Steward. I know he will  serve and support the District well. 

Next, I would like to congratulate Bro. Ryan, W. Bro.  John’s son, on his being raised to the Sublime Degree of a  Master Mason at last month’s meeting and on his excellent work. I  would also like to take a moment to thank RW Bro. Win and the Shriner degree team for their excellent work of the evening in raising  Bro. Ryan and making it a memorable one for both him and his father.  It is a proud moment for a number of us in lodge to see sons move  through their Masonic journeys and follow in our footsteps. 

Our August meeting will be a very special meeting for  Coronation Lodge as we will be welcoming the the Grand Master,  Most Worshipful Bro. Arthur M. Di Cecco, The Grand Master of the  Grand Lodge of Canada, in the Province of Ontario, on his visit to Coronation Lodge No. 466. It will also be another special evening for  W. Bro. John as we raise his son-in-law, Bro. Chris to the Sublime Degree of a Master Mason in the presence of the  Grand Master along with present and past Grand Lodge officers. I  encourage the brethren of Coronation Lodge to come out to the  meeting to meet the Grand Master and to support Bro. Messecar in  his continued Masonic journey. 

Finally as is our annual tradition at the August meeting, we  will be hosting our annual BBQ at Heritage Park starting at 5:30pm  by donation with proceeds going to the District Project. I encourage  the brethren to come out and enjoy a great meal and great fellowship  before the commencement of our meeting. 

Don’t forget lodge will open at 7pm to take care of business  so we can welcome in our visitors promptly at 7:30pm.

I want to take a moment to thank you for putting your confidence in me by electing me to be the Worshipful Master of Coronation Lodge for the upcoming year. I am truly honoured and humbled by your vote of confidence. I know that following in W. Bro. John’s footsteps leaves very big shoes for me to fill as he has set the bar very high. I will be surrounded by a great team of lodge officers for the upcoming year, and I thank them for their participation as well. I know our team will continue to demonstrate our dedication, integrity and high caliber of work that we do within the Lodge and our community.

I want to congratulate my son-in-law, Bro. Chris, who at our last meeting was passed to the second degree. His work was excellent. I also want to thank all the officers and members that did work that evening.

So, another year has come to pass, and I am a little sad to be leaving the Chair of King Solomon. I can’t believe how quickly the year passed; however, everything must come to an end. I am thankful to have had so much support and encouragement from all the brethren. It has made it easier to carry out my duties, and I hope I have represented you well, both in the Lodge and while visiting.

At this meeting Bro. Dale will assume the chair of King Solomon and I’m sure with our support he will do a great job. I also want to wish the elected and appointed officers all the best in the upcoming year.

Finally, I want to acknowledge our Secretary, V.W. Bro. David, who is stepping down from that office after 16 years of service. I speak for all of Coronation Lodge members in thanking him for his service, guidance and leadership.

Brethren we have a wonderful Lodge, and I am so grateful to have been a part of leading it for the last 12 months.

I want to congratulate my son, Bro. Ryan, who at our last meeting was passed to the second degree.  His work was excellent.  

I also want to thank all the officers and members that did work that evening.

We will be hosting, under dispensation, an “Open House” on Saturday April 25th, 2026, during the Elmvale Maple Syrup Festival, from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm.  Anyone wishing to assist with the Open House may contact either the Secretary or myself.

We are doing the Lodge’s annual spring cleanup of the Lodge grounds on Saturday April 18th, 2026, at 9:00 am.  Interested members can meet for breakfast at 8:15 am at the Country Diner Restaurant, 10 Yonge Street South in Elmvale.  

This month is an important month for the Lodge as I am coming to the end of my term as Master and elections will be held for the next slate of officers.  I would encourage every member to come out to vote on the leadership of the Lodge for the upcoming year.  

Also, this month we will be passing my son in law Bro. Christopher to the second degree.

I am looking forward to a wonderful night of ritual and fellowship.

It is with heavy heart that I advise you of the passing of V.W. Bro. William "Bill" Wheeler to the Grand Lodge above.  He passed away last evening at the Simcoe Hospice in Barrie.

V.W. Bro. Wheeler joined Coronation Lodge in 2003 and was Master in 2013.  He was a skilled ritualist, a mentor to numerous candidates and the Lodge's Treasurer from 2015 until last year. He also was the District Benevolence Chairman from 2015 until his passing.  

Bill was active in Scottish Rite Masonry in Barrie and Past President of the Midland Shrine Club.

His smile and humour will be missed.

There will be a Masonic Memorial Service held for V.W. Bro William "Bill" Wheeler on Thursday February 12th, 2026 at 2:45pm at the Lynn-Stone Funeral Home, 15 Yonge Street South in Elmvale. Masons are asked to assemble in the funeral home's ante room by 2:30pm.  Dress is business suit and regalia.

Coronation Lodge No. 466 A.F. & A.M.

Brethren,

Our December meeting was a super night. Many thanks to V.W. Bro. Dave for the great spaghetti dinner and V. W Bro. Bill for cooking the garlic toast.

With the proceeds from the dinner along with the proceeds from “Pie Night” that we collected at our Official Visit in November the Lodge was able to donate $400.00 to the Elmvale & District Food Bank, to be

distributed to teens in the Food Bank’s Christmas Hamper program.

I want to congratulate Bro. Boyd on being raised to the third degree. His work was excellent. Also thank you to everyone that participated in the degree. It was a wonderful night of fraternity.

To break up the winter we are having an emergent meeting on Saturday, February 7th, 2026. The Lodge will open at 10:00 am. and we will be raising Bro. Jacob to the third degree. After Lodge we will be retiring to Steelers Restaurant for wings and refreshments. The cost is $15.00.

Safety is paramount, and weather is always a consideration, but if you have the time and it is safe to travel, please come out and enjoy a morning of ritual and fellowship.

After being installed in chair of King Solomon I now realize what a great opportunity I have been given. I want to thank everyone who took part in the Ceremony of Installation and all of the members and guest who attended. I also wish to thank R.W. Bro. Jim for being my Installing Master.

My intent this year is to visit all the Lodge’s in our District and support them at their Official Visits and Installations and I welcome each of you to come travel with me.

We are looking forward to a great year starting off with a third degree for Bro. Aaron , the son of our S.W., Bro. Dale . We are hosting an informal BBQ prior to Lodge at 6:30pm so come on out an enjoy an evening of fellowship and ritual.

What an amazing year and I am proud, honoured and privileged to have served as your  Master this past masonic year.  I cannot deeply express how thankful I am to have served and could not have asked for more than to be seated as Master to my Mother Lodge.  Please know that no matter where the Military sees fit to post me, I will always keep Coronation No. 466 (and its Brothers) in my heart.  I have received nothing but warmth, fellowship and kindness from every man I call brother.

I want to congratulate Bro. Jacob on being passed to the second degree in Huronia Lodge No. 348 at their Official Visit on April 22nd.  I also want to thank W. Bro. David and all the members of Huronia Lodge for conferring the degree.

We left the year with a great number of candidates and are continuing to work at guiding these good men through their Masonic Journey.

My congratulations go out to our Master Elect, Bro. John, and his band of officers whom I know will continue the excellent work that our Lodge is known for.

My last request as your Master is to come out and observe and enjoy the Installation and Investiture Ceremony at our May meeting.  Bro. John and his officers will appreciate the support.  Please note Lodge will open at 7:00 pm and our guest will be invited into Lodge at 7:30 pm.  There will be an informal reception held in the banquet room after Lodge closes.

It is with great sadness I advise you of the passing of R.W. Bro. Tony, Past District Deputy Grand Master, Georgian North District.  R.W. Bro. Tony passed away after a short illness.

R.W. Bro.Tony was Master of Coronation Lodge No. 466 in 1989 and 1990 and District Deputy Grand Master of Georgian North District in 1994-1995.  He was a skilled ritualist and instrumental in setting up Coronation Lodge traditions of the Georgian Districts Wardens Association Degree evening in July and the Present and Past Grand lodge Officers Degree evening in August.

As per his wishes there will not be funeral home visitation or service or a Masonic Funeral Service.

We commend his spirit to God who gave it.

Coronation Lodge No. 466 A.F. & A.M.

Congratulations to Bro. Darrell on being raised to the sublime degree of a Master Mason at our last meeting.

I wish to thank Bro. John and Bro. Dave who did an amazing job renovating the bathroom, and repainting downstairs. 

But our labours are not yet complete.  The Building Committee is asking your support to do some general spring clean-up of our building. If you are available, please join us at the on April 12th, 2025, at 9:00am (breakfast before at 8:00am at the Country Diner, 10 Yonge Street South, Elmvale).

On Tuesday April 22nd, 2025, Bro. Jacob from our Lodge will be the candidate to be passed to the second degree at the Huronia Lodge, No.348, Official Visit.  Huronia Lodge is hosting a banquet prior to Lodge at 6:30pm and Lodge opens at 7:30 pm.  Many Coronation Lodge brethren at attending.  Please contact the Secretary if you would like to join us and require a ride.

At our next meeting on April 23rd, 2025, we will be holding our annual elections for the Worshipful Master, Wardens, Secretary and Treasurer for the ensuing Masonic Year along with some Masonic Education.

Prior to the meeting there will be an informal Spaghetti Dinner being held in the banquet room at 6:30pm.  Cost is $15.00.

What a fantastic turnout for the District Deputy Grand Master’s Official Visit! We had five Masters of the District representing their lodges. The number of visitors was so impressive we had to bring our extra chairs. My congratulations go out to W. Bro. Beardwood of Karnak Lodge No. 492, who won the travelling gavel for having twelve Karnak Brothers travelling with him.

I want to congratulate our newest Fellowcraft, Bro. Aaron Moore. It was evident he worked hard, with the assistance from his mentors, in preparing for the evening. This is what Masonry is about. I also want to congratulate my officers and participating members for the work done during the degree. It was fantastic as always.

I need to thank everyone that brought a pie for our annual “Pie Night”. Pie Night raised over $400 for the Elmvale & District Food Bank’s Teen Christmas Gift Card Project.

One of the highlights of the evening was the presentation of a cheque for $800 to the D.D.G.M. for his District Project, the Georgian Bay Homeless Animal Shelter. This money was raised at the two BBQ’s the Lodge hosted in the summer months.

Our next meeting will be Wednesday, December 11 th , and it will be a double second degree for Bro. Devin Klatt and Bro. Darrell Grant. I kindly ask you attend if available to support our advancing brothers. We are now in the time where we have a good number of passings to conduct. At the same time, we still have three prospective men who are seeking masonry. It warms my heart to know we have such a growth forthcoming.

Finally, I would like to wish you and your family a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! I hope that you will all enjoy your time with family and friends, stay safe and warm this winter.

MESSAGE FROM THE EAST

Brethren,

This past month, we had a fantastic turn out from our booth at the Elmvale Fall Fair. Our list of interested initiates continues to grow, which ensures our lodge (and by extension, the craft) will continue to thrive.

A couple meetings back, we saw a father initiate his son into Masonry; last meeting we saw a son initiate his father. I’m sure it was an evening that neither Bro. Johnathon (the son) or Bro. John (his father) will ever forget.

The next meeting will be our official visit, and I am confident our Lodge will continue our stellar work. We will be bringing our D.D.G.M., R.W. Bro. Michael , under the wands to pass Bro. Aaron to the 2 nd degree. I ask all brethren in the degree to make best effort to attend the practice so we may better hone our skills to work towards that smooth, perfect ashlar.

Additionally, as this our tradition, the repast will be our pie night. If every brother could please bring a pie to share among their brothers, I’m sure it will be thankfully received and faithfully applied. Due to the holiday season our last meeting of the year will be on December 11 th, 2024, when we will be conducting a second degree for Bro. Devin.

Allow me to open by congratulating R.W. Brother Michael on becoming our newest District Deputy Grand Master. I am sure he will serve the seat with dignity.  R.W. Bro. Michael will be assisted by W. Bro. Douglas, the newly appointed District Secretary.

Congratulations are also extended to Coronation Lodge member V.W. Bro. Vincent on his appointment as a Grand Steward.

Last meeting was a rare occasion where a father got to help initiate his son into masonry. Our Junior Warden, Bro. Dale, will guide our newest initiate, Bro. Aaron, through his masonic journey. 

Next, I would like to thank the Georgian District Warden’s Association. They provided the brethren to conduct the work of the evening and did so spectacularly. I would also like to thank all the brethren that attended the BBQ prior to the meeting. The BBQ raised $480 for our new D.D.G.M.’s District Project.

I remind those who are Wardens Association members to identify yourself to our secretary, so he can pass that information on. For those who are not members, a reminder that you only need be a Master Mason. Anybody who has their eyes on the east is encouraged to join. Membership is a lifetime membership.

Please join us at our August meeting as present and past Grand Lodge officers will be conducting the third degree for Bro. Tim. The Grand Master, M. W. Bro. Jamie will be attending along with many present and past Grand Lodge officers. This evening is always one of the highlights of Coronation Lodge’s Masonic year.

What a humbling night we had! Once again, I cannot thank my brethren enough for the trust and faith you have in my officers and myself to lead you through the next masonic year. The work from the installing officers lead by R.W. Bro. Jim was stellar. It also warmed my heart to have my gavel initially presented to me by my future partner throughout life.

I already know we have a busy year planned with six initiations (so far) to conduct. I look forward to them receiving the same warm welcome I had nine years ago. We also have a raising coming up as

well.

R.W. Bro. Jim is trying to put a database together to determine who knows what parts of the work. I ask that you look out for his emails and help out however you are comfortable. 

For myself, I intend on using my year to encourage all our brothers to visit, to challenge themselves (even if it’s a small piece) with the work, and to continue the joie de vivre of our meetings.

This month’s meeting will be the conclusion of my year as Master of the Lodge. It has been a fantastic year and has taught me a lot. This time last year, I had my doubts and worries about how this year would go. With the support of all the members of the Lodge, not only were those worries unfounded, but it will be an experience that I will never forget.

I would like to extend an extra special thanks to V.W. Bro. David , V.W. Bro. Bill and R.W. Bro. Jim for the continued support and guidance you have all given me this year. The work that these brothers do behind the scenes is not always obvious, but I like to believe that that just proves how much they do and how well they do it.

This month, we will be installing Bro. Warren as the new Master of Coronation Lodge, as well as investing the other officers moving up in the Lodge. I have every confidence in these brothers in keeping up the good work and reputation of Coronation Lodge. The future is bright for the Lodge, and it will be a busy year with incredible number of applications that we have this already.

I encourage all the brethren to come out to enjoy the evening and support these officers in taking their new chairs. I know that this will be the start of a great year for them.
